Project information
Benefits
The Muswellbrook Hospital redevelopment will:
- offer contemporary facilities to support best practice models of care
- provide patients, families and carers a first-class facility to meet the health needs of the community now, and into the future.
Scope
The Stage 3 redevelopment will build on and complement Stages 1 and 2 and include:
- new operating theatre suite
- new sterilising department
- relocation of community health consultation spaces into the existing hospital.
Health Infrastructure has engaged a specialist project team to undertake the detailed planning and design for the redevelopment.
A key focus of the Muswellbrook Stage 3 project is the provision of a contemporary health facility that is culturally appropriate and welcoming.
Planning and design of the redevelopment has been a collaborative process involving consultation with clinicians, staff, patient groups, local stakeholders and the community.
Opportunities for staff, community and stakeholder participation will be communicated as the redevelopment progresses.
Master plan
The Master Planning phase determined the scope, zones and location of the Muswellbrook Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment.
Concept design
The concept design for Muswellbrook Hospital Stage 3 redevelopment was released in June 2022, and the community was encouraged to share their feedback.
Since that time, there have been changes to the project scope. The project team has reviewed and updated the project scope to deliver within the available budget, which includes a new operating theatre suite, a new sterilising department and the relocation of community health into the existing hospital.
