$45 million for Stage 3
$45 million for Stage 3
SHARE
The NSW Government has committed $45 million to Stage 3 of the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment.
This builds on and complements
Stages 1 and 2
and will consolidate all acute clinical services into one building.
The works will be delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Hunter New England Health District that will provide improved health services for the Hunter New England community.
The Muswellbrook Hospital will continue to function as a District Hospital and remain networked to Armidale, Tamworth and Inverell hospitals to provide the community with access to specialised services.

What’s involved in Stage 3?
This third stage will complement Stages 1 and 2 and will consolidate all acute clinical services into one building. It includes:
collocating the maternity unit that is currently in a standalone building with the new inpatient unit
new operating suite (1 operating theatre and 1 procedure room)
additional staff support zones
new Central Sterilization Services Department and
additional staff overnight rooms.
Works will include a fit out of shell space (delivered as part of Stage 2), refurbishment of existing internal spaces and new spaces.
Where are we going?
Project user group sessions involving staff have already begun and will continue in April. In this stage we plan how the rooms and services will relate to each other within the department and also plan the layouts of rooms, including specifications for the layout of furniture, fittings and equipment.
This will be split into two streams, early works, which will include the scope for the operating suite and CSSD and main works, which will include the inpatient and maternity departments. Feedback from this will inform the final designs.
