MAJOR MILESTONE WITH THE RELEASE OF Schematic designs
SHARE

TThe Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation project has reached a major milestone with the unveiling of schematic designs for the new facility.

The designs provide the next level of detail for the development, showcasing the purpose-built modern healthcare facility that will be built on the Maitland Hospital campus.

Concept designs were unveiled earlier this year, revealing the key features of the brand new two-level mental health rehabilitation facility with landscaped surrounds.

The facility will provide a much-needed new home for the medium-secure forensic and recovery and rehabilitation  services currently operating out of Morisset Hospital, as well as a new low-secure forensic service.

All units will have single bedrooms with ensuites, shared kitchen, dining and living areas, and contemporary indoor and outdoor therapy spaces.

The project also includes new car parking spaces to ensure that staff, visitors, consumer transport and emergency service vehicles have easy access to the service.

The new facility has been designed with rehabilitation at its core, providing a welcoming environment that promotes recovery, with the addition of outdoor therapy spaces and walking paths, alongside shared living areas, creating a healing environment for consumers

The  design has been shaped by extensive consultation with staff, consumers, and community members through Project User Groups, Connecting with Country working group, and the Arts in Health program.

Construction on the Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation facility is expected to start in 2025, following the appointment of a main works contractor.
