The JHHIP project team recently invited John Hunter and John Hunter Children’s Hospitals staff as well as precinct partners to tour two new internal roads ahead of the official opening on 10 October 2024. Leading the bus tour was JHHIP Project Director Scott Liddell. Setting off from the main entry, the tours took in a new roundabout and a road on the western side of the campus, which overlooks the future extension of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass. The tour then moved to the campus’s northern boundary and up to the back of the seven-storey acute services building, which is under construction. These roads are designed to connect existing parts of the precinct with the new acute services building, which is the centrepiece of the health precinct. This initiative was a resounding success, with more than 200 staff and partners participating in the tours and taking away a commemorative ticket. We recently asked staff to help us name the new roads, and they will be revealed soon.
