Work will soon be underway on the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment with Hansen Yuncken successfully appointed as the project builder.

The NSW Government’s $138 million investment will provide a more patient-focused health service and enhanced models of care at Cessnock Hospital.

Hansen Yuncken in partnership with Health Infrastructure and Hunter New England Local Health District will deliver a new two-level Acute Services Building on the Cessnock Hospital campus including:

• an expanded emergency department
• two inpatient wards with single and two-bed rooms with ensuite bathrooms
• a new medical imaging service
• an operating theatre and procedure room
• day surgery spaces
• a sterilising services unit, and
• a modern pharmacy.

The project’s next steps involve finalising the design before construction work, which is anticipated to start later in 2025.
