BBQ launch for Gunnedah builders

Gunnedah Hospital staff had the opportunity to catch up with the project team and meet the builders at an on-site barbecue to mark the start of construction.

The team was in town for the start-up workshop with the recently engaged builders, Richard Crookes Constructions, for the $53 million hospital redevelopment project. A site office has already been established on the hospital grounds, with early works about to get underway. The first stage of works will include refurbishing the former administration building to create a new front entry and reception.

The redevelopment project will deliver a new acute services building, which will house an expanded emergency department and a modern birthing, maternity and inpatient unit.  

The project is being delivered by Health Infrastructure and the Hunter New England Local Health District.

Main works construction is expected to begin in early 2024 and is due to be completed in late 2025.
